A diplomatic fashion show

There are some events held behind the walls of the Vatican that are a little hard to believe. On June 5, at the Belgian Embassy to the Holy See, an amazing fashion display hosted by Ukrainian designers took place. Ukrainian tunes accompanied the models as they strolled around the lemon trees in the embassy gardens, decked out in exquisite fashion, LaCroix reported.

"We hear about bombings every day," expressed a visibly moved Andrii Yurash, the ambassador of Ukraine. However, we would be stuck in this terrible reality if we stopped there. We have to keep dreaming. Our lives are inextricably linked to beauty.” On the eve of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, his Belgian colleague Patrick Renault emphasized "a very special day." He underlined, "Freedom, democracy, and rights always prevail."

It was rare and even funny to see ambassadors and prelates at a fashion show. However, these three hours in the embassy gardens probably brought some lightness to those present, especially those from Ukraine thinking of their missing friends or fighting brothers, amid somber news and the ongoing presence of war in some countries' minds. It was a means for them to persuade themselves that "life goes on," as one audience member observed. /BGNES
