Alex Consani, a fashion and TikTok celebrity, could soon get a prize for "dominating the industry." Consani became the first transgender nominee in the history of the British Fashion Council (BFC) when she was nominated for Model of the Year in the 2024 Fashion Awards, which were announced on August 20.
Model of the Year "recognizes the global impact of a model who, over the last 12 months, has dominated the industry, with an influence that transcends the catwalk," according to a statement from the BFC.
Consani has experience. The model began her career in 2015 and, at the age of 13, joined Slay Model Management, becoming the youngest trans model to be signed to an agency.
The celebrity, whose career has taken off in the last few years, has amassed over three million followers and 120 million likes on TikTok in addition to walking the runway for designers like Marc Jacobs and Mugler.
The model, who was born in California, gained a devoted following on social media thanks to her frank and unpolished posting style under the handle @captincroook.
