An entrepreneur from Letterkenny is dominating the sustainable fashion industry

An entrepreneur from LETTERKENNY is sweeping the sustainable fashion industry.

For Sadhbha Medlar, the 2020 Covid-19 epidemic marked the start of an exceptional and singular journey, but it was also a moment of uncertainty for everyone in Ireland, reported Donegal News.

Sab was in need of a change of scenery after completing his studies in Mechatronic Engineering at Dublin City University during the global epidemic.

Sab had a strong interest in business and entrepreneurship since he was young. Sab owned and operated her own tie-dye clothes company when she was a teenager.

In a matter of years, Sab would need this invaluable experience, which she was gaining from making merchandise for performers to setting up stalls at music festivals and pop-up stores in coffee shops.

Sab, who is well-known in the sports community, was a member of the 2013 Ulster Championship-winning Donegal Minor Ladies team and St. Eunan's.

While cleaning her room during the global shutdown, Sab discovered some of her old tie-dye stuff back in Donegal.

"SourcedBySab" was created after the notion struck to start selling the remaining inventory along with other clothing products on websites like Depop, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace.

SourcedBySab's main app for sales was Depop, an e-commerce site utilized by over 30 million people to sell and resell mostly clothes products.

In just three months, SourcedBySab rose to rank among the top 0.001% of merchants on the Depop platform because to the remarkable sales of his distinctive products.

Ever driven, Sab started to expand her business even more by offering tie-dyed and vintage garments for sale.

She persisted in opening pop-up shops because she was committed to seeing her business expand.

Sab made the decision to expand her team and bring on her sister Maeve, who was attending DCU for business studies, as sales and follower numbers increased.

After the pandemic, when things started to gradually get back to normal, Sab was ready to take the next step.

After an old Covid testing facility in the heart of Letterkenny became available in September 2021, SourcedBySab opened its first physical store two months later.

With a focus on creating a sense of community and offering eco-friendly clothing, Sab and her crew have grown steadily since their opening about 2.5 years ago.

Even though starting a physical store might be quite difficult, Sab prioritized community in her company story. She frequently hosted social activities like coffee days and workshops on breathing and meditation in her store.

Speaking about ensuring that visitors to SourcedBySab leave feeling better about themselves, Sab stated: "We want to be more than just a brand; we want to be an experience." Being a catalyst for change and establishing deep connections are our goals. My thoughts turn to SourcedBySab, whose core values are authenticity and sustainability, when I consider the future.

While Sab is content to take things slowly, she aspires to, along with her incredible staff, become one of the foremost advocates for sustainable fashion in Ireland and worldwide.

"Our goal is to establish ourselves as the premier destination in Ireland, Europe, and the UK for high-end vintage and eco-friendly streetwear. However, in addition to development, promotion, and sales, I hope SourcedBySab feels like more than just a business.

Many budding company owners who wish to improve their community can find inspiration from SourcedBySab at a time when it appears to be getting harder and harder for young people to launch their own enterprises.
