COMMUNITY is a Downtown Athens fashion boutique renowned for its unique, handcrafted looks made entirely of recycled materials. The boutique's owner, Sanni Baumgärtner, a native of Germany, outlined the two main principles of the business: transparency and sustainability.
Baumgärtner revealed that having the sewing room inside the boutique was her top priority in order to increase transparency and let customers witness the process of making clothing.
Since fast fashion has been all the rage lately, with clothes coming from overseas and lacking quality, she felt it was vital to let customers see this labor-intensive and complex process.
She believes that by being transparent, people will understand the value of spending more money on better-made items that last longer in your closet due to the labor-intensive process involved in their creation.
