Chanel paid homage to the brand's history at the seaside

On the last day of Paris Fashion Week, Chanel headed to the seaside for a show dedicated to the place where the famous founder of the fashion house opened her first boutique, AFP reported.

The revue began with a short ad featuring Brad Pitt and Penelope Cruz - a tribute to the classic 1960s French film Man and Woman - set in the northern seaside town of Deauville.
On the catwalk, the star of the show was undoubtedly the huge-brimmed beach hats – again harkening back to Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel's first boutique, opened in Deauville in 1912, where she sold hats and loose knitwear for stylish beachgoers.
In recent weeks, her story has gained more attention thanks to the Apple TV series "The New Look," which explores her complicated relationship with the Nazis during World War II.

The new collection had a palette of bright pastel tones in a range designed for winter beach walks, including coats, tweed suits, 1920s-style trousers and dresses.
Creative director Virginie Viard, who took over from Karl Lagerfeld when he died in 2019, has sometimes been criticized for lacking courage.
But it has "the merit of not losing people along the way," said actress and model Arielle Dombassel, a regular Lagerfeld muse, speaking on the sidelines of the show.
"It's not gratuitously showy, it's graceful and always successful," she noted.

The ninth and final day of Paris Fashion Week featured womenswear shows by big names such as Miu Miu, Lacoste and Louis Vuitton, as well as the surprise last-minute inclusion of a Saint Laurent menswear show to close the week. /BGNES
