Copenhagen Fashion Week Is Still Putting a Focus on Sustainability

Scandinavian style codes are unique and easily recognizable because they are expressive but minimalist. Copenhagen's fashion trends, which are typified by bold prints, clean linens, and color blocking, have been widely embraced by the global fashion community and the internet. The Copenhagen fashion scene has not only revolutionized the fashion industry by showcasing bold color palettes and unexpected combinations, but it has also increased industry awareness of sustainable practices.

All participating brands at Copenhagen Fashion Week are required to adhere to a set of standards that were introduced in 2020 and later updated in March 2024. These standards include having a sustainability strategy that has been officially approved, following circular design principles, and creating collections that use at least 60% certified or deadstock fabric.

"I'm relieved that our fashion week showcases the best aspects of the business and helps up-and-coming labels. These are important considerations for small and medium-sized businesses as well, as they have the potential to inspire major players and brands in the market. Though we're not flawless, we're working to promote a positive relationship with fashion," CPHFW CEO Thorsmark said.
