Newtown will host several events for Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) 2024, aiming to promote a circular textile economy and raise awareness about the environmental impact of fast fashion.
Once a major hub for flannel production, the town is now embracing sustainable fashion through initiatives like The Textile Junkies, founded by Cheryl Griffiths, and Open Energy.
Events include workshops, a film screening of Fashion Reimagined on September 28, and a full day of activities on September 29, featuring a sustainable market, clothes swap, mending workshops, and a fashion show.
The week-long celebration, themed "The Power of Repair," aims to inspire mindful consumption and highlight slow fashion.
