Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa and Rita Ora turned retro T-shirts into a fashion trend

Kim Kardashian is one celebrity who has chosen a throwback strip, which can retail for up to £450 on eBay. With Euro 2024 just two months away, celebrities and style experts are going old school to don their favorite retro jerseys. Resale app Depop has revealed searches using the term “football shirts” have risen by 141 per cent in recent weeks — especially “retro football shirts”, reported The Sun.

It follows the controversy surrounding Nike's decision to add blue and purple to the St George's Cross on the new England strip. Rita Ora made a statement in a bright yellow Genoa strip to celebrate the club's 130th birthday, and last week, Dua Lipa posed in an old-style replica jersey to promote new single Training Season. Kim started the vintage trend in January of last year when she wore an AS Roma shirt from 1997 while out and about in Los Angeles. Within two days, Google searches for the Italian side had increased by 2.3 million.

Nostalgia is being used by even designer brands to gain style points.
Classic football shirts were given to the affluent guests of Chanel's December catwalk show in Manchester, where the fashion house also hosted a special suite for the Manchester United vs Chelsea game the previous evening.
In the meantime, Romeo Beckham's on-again, off-again model girlfriend Mia Regan made her Stella McCartney debut during her most recent campaign, sporting a baby blue and pink shirt with hints of vintage Arsenal gear.

Bella Hadid was then enlisted by Balenciaga to serve as the face of their collaboration with Adidas, sporting clothing inspired by the legendary 1998 Man Utd strip.

Adidas actually introduced a whole line of retro-style shirts in the mid-1990s due to the overwhelming demand.
For the May issue of British Vogue, actress Zendaya was pictured wearing a vintage, footie-inspired jacket designed by Wales Bonner and Adidas Originals.
Rapper Drake showed his support for the Italian side Juventus in 2016 by donning a pastel pink shirt. Today, high-street retailer Bershka offers footwear with themes, including heeled lace-ups./BGNES
