Lady Gaga Wears a Mechanical "Car Part" Dress to Pay Tribute to Her Red Carpet Past

Although red carpet fashion isn't a race, Lady Gaga would undoubtedly win.

Thursday night marked the Grammy-winning actress' triumphant comeback to the red carpet as she attended the global premiere of Gaga Chromatica Ball, her upcoming HBO concert film. Although Gaga's recent red carpet looks have been more Old Hollywood than Artpop, the A Star Is Born actress brought back her infamous love of daring, experimental fashion by dressing in a stunning Selva "car part" dress, reported Harper's BAZAAR.

With its single shoulder strap, round grommets, frayed hemline, and a sizable zipper running down the side of the skirt, the white gown was distinctive enough on its own. Over the clothing, however, was another piece of art: a mechanical device that resembled an automobile bumper and folded in around her body.

Gaga later shared her thoughts about the outfit on Twitter, saying, "I told them it was a car part on the red carpet." They asked what kind, and I replied, "I'm not a mechanic, so I don't know."

Once inside the arena, Gaga changed out of her garment and into a long black dress with an elaborate eye mask and a sculptural lace bodice.

She expressed her gratitude to her supporters for their support during a Q&A after the film. "I feel so fortunate to be here with all of you. Gaga reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter, "I'm so excited." "This moment was really unique. This tour [in support of her 2020 studio album, Chromatica] took place in the midst of a pandemic, when many people didn't think it was possible to go on tour. People were dressed to the nines, dancing and singing in full stadiums across the globe. I can't wait for you all to have a close-up look at what we created./BGNES
