Princess Beatrice was named the best dressed in Britain.
The 35-year-old royal – who is the daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York – was ridiculed for her fashion choices in her 20s. But now the prestigious Tatler magazine has named her the most stylish woman on 2024.
Explaining Beatrice’s position at the top of the list, the publication declared her “the Princess of perfection” and wrote: “The master of this fashion feat? Princess Beatrice of York”.
“Once the subject of much ridicule for wearing Philip Tracy’s hat to the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales (the masses were not ready for such a lovely headpiece), Beatrice has since become a symbol of elegance, combining vintage cuts with fresh glamour from the catwalk. Brilliant in Richard Quinn, captivating in Monique Lhuillier or radiant in Beulah London, the princess is the epitome of contemporary opulence”.
“But it doesn't take a title or a crown to rule the red carpet, royal weddings or the steps of The OWO, the city's hottest landmark, where dazzling designer Anu Hinduja proved that today's style lords create palace-worthy splendour while playing by their own rules. Fashion favours the brave – and the bon vivant”.
Designer Jade Holland Cooper took second place, while the highest-ranking man on the list was 19-year-old Cruz Beckham, the youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham.
The magazine wrote of the teen: “Move over, Brooklyn: the new Beckham on the scene is getting David-level acclaim for his outfits. Extremely cool in sporty-chic and tailored-for-a-rock-star outfits, Cruz just gave London Fashion Week's men's show a new fashion icon”.
Lord William Gordon-Lennox, the 27-year-old son of the Duke of Richmond, and 75-year-old Annabel Elliott – sister of Queen Camilla – completed the top five.
The top 10 is rounded out by designer Anu Hinduja, Jack Grealish's partner Sasha Atwood, Lucy Van Straubenzee – who is married to Prince William's good friend Thomas Van Straubenzee – Chelsea FC player Ben Chilwell and Lady Victoria Starmer, who has gained attention with her outfits over the past week since her husband Sir Keir Starmer was elected as Prime Minister.
