Punjab Agricultural University re-starts fashion design course

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), under the Department of Apparel and Textile Science, has restarted the honors course on fashion design in the new academic session. Interested candidates who have passed their intermediate (class 12) in any stream are eligible to take admission to this course through their board exam results, Indian Express reported.

The scope of students after completing their degrees is quite varied and includes positions such as designers, merchandiser, production supervisors, quality analysts, fashion forecasters, supply chain managers, etc., said Dr Harminder Kaur Saini, Professor and Head of the department, an official Punjab Agricultural University release stated.

“Fashion Designing is a creative realm where fabric and style intertwine to create classic apparels, upholsteries and accessories. This is a promising field which imparts vocational skills in students in line with the National Education Policy 2020,” said Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science, PAU.

“The department houses state-of-the-art laboratories and is credited by a team of qualified faculty, providing a congenial atmosphere both for personal and professional growth,” Saini said. Many successful batches of Fashion Designing in the past were placed in various apparel, knitwear and textile industries in and around Ludhiana, claimed Punjab Agricultural University.

Meanwhile, the Punjab School Examination Board (PSEB) will likely tomorrow declare Class 10 result. Once released, students will be able to check their scorecards at the official website – pseb.ac.in. The Punjab board class 10 exam began on February 13 and concluded on March 5 in a pen-paper mode. /BGNES
