Sustainability at the Heart of Copenhagen International Fashion Fair

The 63rd edition of the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF), held at the Bella Center, showcased the Danish capital’s rise as a global fashion hub with a focus on sustainability, community, and inclusivity. With over 1,200 brands participating, the event highlighted a mix of emerging talents and established names, providing equal opportunities for small brands and international powerhouses like Steve Madden.

CIFF’s director, Sofie Dolva, emphasized Copenhagen’s culture of collaboration, where the city supports fashion as an essential export, reinvesting in new designers and fostering a community-first approach. The fair’s democratic atmosphere, unlike larger fashion weeks in Paris or New York, allows for meaningful connections and innovation rather than celebrity-driven spectacle.

One highlight was the CIFF x Neudeutsch section, featuring up-and-coming German brands that align with the fair’s sustainable and forward-thinking ethos. Sustainability was a key theme throughout the event, with brands like Bestseller building eco-friendly exhibition spaces.

CIFF’s expanding international reach, along with its commitment to supporting smaller fashion brands, positions Copenhagen as a major player in the global fashion industry. With its ambitious vision and support for sustainable practices, the fair is set to grow even larger in the future.
