Tapestry-Capri Merger Will Go to Court This September

According to a judge, the US Federal Trade Commission's action to stop Tapestry, Inc., parent company of the Coach and Kate Spade brands, from purchasing rival Capri Holding Ltd., which owns Michael Kors, Versace, and Jimmy Choo, is scheduled to go to court on September 9, Bloomberg reported.

The judge anticipates that the preliminary injunction hearing will go into the next week. In the event that the judge rules against the merger, the FTC's own court will decide what would happen to the Tapestry-Capri agreement.

In federal court earlier this week in Manhattan, Judge Jennifer Rochon declared, "I'm going to work to keep the case moving very quickly." /BGNES
