Afan College Student Displays Eco-Friendly Clothes at Premier London Gallery

For Mia De La Rue-George, a student at Afan College studying sustainable fashion and design, this summer has been extraordinary. The Mall Galleries in London hosted the Origins Creatives exhibition in July, where Mia was chosen to have a collection of her work displayed by the University of Arts London (UAL) Awarding Body.
The good news was shared by Mia's tutor, Sarah Holmes, who said that she had entered several students' works in the UAL Origins Creatives exhibition competition, which honors the accomplishments of UAL students from all over the UK. This esteemed event will showcase Mia's work, which was selected from 528 submissions across the country.

The moment I saw Mia's work in the exhibition was amazing. To show my support, I went to the private viewing evening and surprised Mia and her family. The event was a colorful celebration of artwork from different UAL courses, and seeing Mia's work so expertly exhibited in such a prestigious venue made her proud. For one of our students to be chosen for a London gallery exhibition is an amazing accomplishment. Mia's creativity and her growing confidence over the past year make me very proud. In the upcoming academic year, I'm excited to see what she and the other Sustainable Fashion and Design students come up with!

Origins Creatives gives up-and-coming artists a stage on which to be recognized and appreciated, introducing them to possible partners, influential people in the field, and a larger audience. Showcasing talent in the UAL subject areas of Art and Design, Fashion Business and Retail, Creative Media, Music Performance and Production, Performing Arts, Entry Level 3 in Art and Design and Performing Arts, Professional Diplomas, and the Extended Project Qualification, the exhibition showcases the outstanding work of students from centers across the UK.
