At Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, 400 manufacturers from 35 nations are present

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) 2024 kicked off on Wednesday in Barcelona, with the aim of showing the world the latest creations in bridal fashion.

It launched with the inauguration of an eye-catching artistic installation created by theater group La Fura dels Baus. 'Barcelona goes Bridal!' is a rotating six-meter-tall rotating structure set up on Maria Cristina Avenue, with 30 wedding dresses from Catalan brands hanging off it.

BBFW director, Albasarí Caro, said the installation will "bring the show closer to the city," and "shine the spotlight" on Catalan talent.

This year's edition, which runs until April 21, will bring together more than 400 brands from 35 countries, 14% more than last year.

The director general of the Fira de Barcelona venue, Constantí Serrallonga, told media that this year's edition is the "most international" BBFW held to date.

"We can say without any doubt that the world's top bridal fashion fair is this one here," Serrallonga said.

The first collection to appear on the runway was from Jesús Peiró, with 37 international designers set to feature from Wednesday to Sunday.

In parallel to the catwalk, the Montjuïc site also plays host to the BBFW trade show, which runs until Sunday.

That will bring together more than 400 exhibitors from 35 different countries, 14% more than last year. Some 80% of exhibitors are international brands.

In total, the fair is expected to generate an economic impact of €61.5m.
