British politics and fashion collide at London Fashion Week

Canadian-British designer Edelyn Lee presented her latest collection for Spring-Summer 2025 at London Fashion Week (LFW). Her loyal client Victoria Starmer, wife of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, was also in attendance.

The label with the fitting slogan "Clothes for the future lady" has dressed some of Britain's most powerful women including Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.

Last year, Victoria Starmer, who is generally not flaunted and is praised for her style, wore a red belted dress by the designer to the Labour Party conference - one of her few political appearances.

The new collection showed variations of the same garment - jacquard belted and sleeveless dresses with flounces in cornflower, yellow, coral pink and emerald green.

At the brand's first-ever runway show, LFW Lee presented fitted midi and maxi dresses, flowy pants and sequin dresses designed to make their owner feel "polished, poised and powerful."

While her husband was in Rome meeting his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni, Victoria Starmer attended the show on the banks of the Thames and opted for a blue and white polka dot jumpsuit with a navy blazer.

However, she couldn't stay away from politics completely.

Over the weekend, the Times accused Keir Starmer of breaking parliamentary rules by failing to disclose that a Labour Party donor had bought designer clothes for his wife worth more than £5,000.

The Prime Minister insisted "the rules are being followed" after it was also reported that Labour MP Waheed Ali had given Keir Starmer nearly £20,000 worth of clothes which he had declared.
