Companies like Zara and Shein are at the forefront, using air freight extensively to cut delivery times. This mode of transport, although faster, is significantly more harmful to the climate than shipping by sea. In 2022, the European Union alone saw over 700,000 tonnes of clothing transported by air, highlighting the urgent need for the industry to adopt more sustainable practices.
