France is pushing for an EU-wide ban on exporting used clothes to tackle textile waste. The EU exported 1.4 million metric tons of used textiles in 2022, often ending up in landfills in Africa. The proposal, supported by Sweden and Denmark, will be discussed at the EU Environment Council on March 25. France's environment ministry criticizes fast fashion for fostering a throwaway culture, emphasizing the need for Europe to handle its own waste, Reuters reported.
