In downtown Traverse City, Yana Dee commemorates ten years of sustainable fashion

Yana Dee Powers, a clothing designer, is commemorating ten years of operating her downtown Traverse City boutique.

Over the course of 20 years, Powers, a garment designer and producer headquartered in Michigan, has pioneered the business located at 157 E. Front St, reported 9&10 News.

October 1st–10th is Yana Dee's 10-year anniversary celebration sale. Additionally, customers can browse temporary sales in person.

Powers has gradually built her company from the ground up while adhering to sustainable practices.

According to a news release dated September 25, "Her creations are made from natural, organic, and salvaged materials." "During her first ten years in company, Yana sold her wearable artwork online at Etsy and as a vendor at music festivals and art exhibitions. Additionally, she sold her handmade goods in bulk to nearby businesses including Ella's in Traverse City and Clothes Matters in Grand Rapids.

Powers decided it was time to take the risk and create her own boutique when a modest storefront in the middle of Traverse City's downtown became available for rent in the late summer of 2014.

At initially, there weren't many racks, but people were interested in her products. With a growing local fan base, Yana was able to attract a lot of recognized faces and her clothes were also easily accessible to new clients.

Ten years later, Yana Dee continues to offer a unique shopping experience to both locals and tourists. More sizes and styles are now available in Yana's designs than ever before.

According to the press release, "what started as a one-woman operation is now a team of seven, including Yana, her sister Abby Rose, their mom, and four additional part-time sales and sewing staff."
