Michelle Obama and Meghan Markle look great in sleeveless suits for summertime tailoring

Michelle Obama looked effortlessly stylish in a Monse ensemble that included a navy waistcoat and tailored pants when she took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last night. The ensemble resembled the navy tailored co-ord from Veronica Beard that Meghan Markle wore on the first day of her tour of Colombia last week. The sleeveless suit, as we're calling it, has been popular for a while and, as Obama and Markle have shown, is a great way to look extremely put together both inside and outside of the office.

Obama wore her outfit, which was from American label Monse's resort 2025 collection, with a dramatic ponytail braid, pointed Jimmy Choo Scarlett pumps, and silver hoop earrings by David Yurman. The outfit had a statement belt and a distinctive crisscross pattern across the front. She has previously opted to wear creations by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the co-founders of Monse and the creative directors of Oscar de la Renta, a label that Obama has frequently worn.

When Markle arrived in Bogota last Thursday, she wore an identical navy two-piece suit designed by Veronica Beard. The pants were slim fit, and the top had halter neck, slight peplum hem, and brown buttons up the front. She accessorized it with a Loro Piana purse, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and suede Manolo Blahnik heels.
The two ladies demonstrated with their styling that the sleeveless suit is appropriate for both day and night, despite the striking similarity of their looks. Obama made hers work for the evening, but both were elegant and polished. Markle wore hers for the day and looked very California cool in it.
