The World in Fashion: Celebrating Cultural Identity

On Saturday, the University Programs Council (UPC) hosted "Fashion from Around the World" at 1515, showcasing traditional clothing from diverse cultures. The event featured ten students representing Ethiopia, India, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine, Samoa, and Syria, who modeled colorful garments, jewelry, and accessories. The evening included music and dinner catered by Sultan Kebab.

UPC Director Ava Godfrey organized the event to provide a platform for cultural expression through fashion, addressing a gap in previous UPC events that focused more on food, dance, and music. Students like Dina Belete, Maira Ijaz, and Torrae Bennett shared their cultural attire with pride, finding a sense of unity and empowerment through the show.

Godfrey hopes the event's success will encourage future UPC initiatives and promote inclusivity within the University community.
